Quest Summary
This quest begins when you enter the ghost ship area of the Malangdo Dungeon. Through investigation and a trip back to the Malangdo docks, you will uncover the truth behind a cursed ship and its undying captain - and ultimately earn access to the Ghost Ship Captain MVP Instance.
Step 1: Enter the Ship
Make your way into the ghost ship area of Malangdo Dungeon.
Location:
The ship is impossibly preserved - no rot, no decay, no sign of aging. The crew, however, is another matter. Atmospheric text will play as you approach, beginning the quest.
Step 2: Read the Ship's Log
Find and read the Ship's Log on the main deck.
Location:
The log contains a series of entries from a crewman documenting the ship's slow transformation after recovering a salvaged treasure chest. The final line has been underlined twice:
"If even one coin left the pile the whole thing would unravel."
Below it, scratched in a different hand: DON'T.
Step 3: Speak to the Ghost Ship Sailor
Find the Ghost Ship Sailor on the main deck.
Location:
He barely registers your presence until you've read the log. He warns you away from the Captain's quarters, then goes back to staring at nothing. From somewhere below, you hear a slow, rhythmic knocking.
Step 4: Take a Coin from the Treasure Pile
Head to the Captain's quarters and interact with the Pile of Treasure.
Location:
The gold gleams as if freshly minted. A coin finds its way into your hand before you decide to take it - warm to the touch, impossibly so. The knocking below stops. Something stirs. Leave quickly.
Step 5: Speak to the Old Seafarer
Travel to Malangdo and find the Old Seafarer on the docks.
Location:
He recognizes what you're carrying immediately. Twenty years ago he lost part of his crew to this same ship. He explains:
- The treasure must remain whole - that completeness is what keeps the Captain alive
- Taking a coin doesn't break the curse, it destabilizes it - the Captain woke the moment you took it
- To confront the Captain, you must return the coin yourself, in person - that act is what makes him vulnerable
- The Captain will not forgive you for waking him. Be ready to fight.
Step 6: Return to the Ship
Re-enter the ghost ship area of Malangdo Dungeon.
Location:
The atmosphere has changed. The coin in your pocket burns.
Step 7: Return the Coin
Return to the Pile of Treasure in the Captain's quarters.
Location:
When prompted, choose Place the coin back on the pile.
The warmth drains from the room. The ship exhales. The Captain speaks - and he is not pleased. Returning the coin unlocks the Ghost Ship Captain MVP Instance.
